Lenovo Introduces the New ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch & ThinkPad Tablet 8

PC computing leader Lenovo has release yet another 2 new premium device into their product portfolio, the third generation ThinkPad X1 Carbon and the dockable 8 inch ThinkPad Tablet 8 running windows 8.

As the name suggest, the professionally redefined ThinkPad X1  Carbon is forged from satellite grade carbon-fiber,  the same material use in aircrafts and racing cars and weighs less than magnesium and aluminum but is stronger than both. The X1 Carbon has gone through many military specification tests which makes the ThinkPad practically indestructible and weighs only 1.28kg on the base model under the world’s lightest 14-inch Ultrabook that also houses some of the most powerful hardware that are now available on the market. At just 17.72 mm thin, it’s also the thinnest ThinkPad ever.The ThinkPad X1  Carbon also packed with many premium features like an Adaptive Keyboard, Gesture Control, RapidCharge battery technology, a patented cooling system, and a stunning ThinkPad ColorBurst Display.

Let go further into these premium feature one by one. The adaptive keyboard is actually the function key row that many of us are familiar with on a keyboard. On the ThinkPad X1 Carbon the row of funtion keys will dynamically adjusts based on the software or application being used to highlight the most relevant keys. The new Ultrabook is also equipped with gesture control, allowing users to interact with their PC in modern and familiar ways. The X1 Carbon can delivers up to 9 hours of battery life on a single charge and its RapidCharge technology will charge the X1 Carbon up to an impressive 80% battery in just under an hour. Couple with an optional built-in 4G capability, the X1 Carbon Touch has all the mobility and connectivity customers need wherever they go.

The ThinkPad ColorBurst Display is actually a high resolution screen(2560 x 1440) with 10-point multitouch screen coated with anti-glare and anti-smudge screen which result in crisper text, brighter images, and truer colors. The 180-degrees wide-screen viewing IPS also emit brightness of 300 nit. Other model of the X1 Carbon will feature a HD+ screen(1600×900) with a brightness of 260 nits.

The pricing of ThinkPad X1 Carbon start from RM6,189.00 for the base model and RM7,229 for the MultiTouch Premium HD+ version.

Thinkpad 8_Win 8_02The second device launched by Lenovo is the ThinkPad Tablet 8. It is a dockable premium business tablet constructed out of machine-cut aluminum powered with full PC capabilities. the table can be transform into 3 different mode to cater to one’s everyday need. Without plugging anything, it can be use as a Tablet Mode, by plugging in a keyboard, a dock or a monitor, the ThinkPad can be transform into Desktop Mode and lastly by flipping over the optional Quickshot Cover to enter Tent Mode. In addition, peeling back the Quickshot cover will trigger the camera app to open allowing users to capture photos and videos intuitively and easily with the 8MP camera. The ThinkPad 8 also features a 2MP front-facing camera.

The screen is a 8.3 inch IPS wide-viewing angle display with Full HD (1920×1200) resolution and support up to 10-point multitouch. Content on the screen may also be shared wirelessly using Miracast technology or be view via a cable using its microHDMI port. It also features enterprise-ready security such as TPM 2.0, Mobile Device Management, Workplace Join, and an auto-triggered VPN function.

ThinkPad Tablet 8 is armed with the latest Intel Atom™ Processor Z3770, up to 64GB integrated storage (non-upgradable or swappable), WIFI a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and has Windows 8.1 32-bit pre-install with MS Office Home & Student 2013.
